Aker Solutions has received a letter of award (LOA) from PTSC M&C for Maydan Mahzam detail design work on the offshore field redevelopment in Qatar.

The award covers detail design for three topsides, four jackets and a brownfield tie-in within PTSC M&C’s wider project scope. Aker Solutions will carry out the work through its engineering teams in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Mumbai, India.

Aker Solutions classifies the award as “sizeable,” a category it defines as contracts worth between NOK 0.5 billion and NOK 1.5 billion. The company has not disclosed a more precise value. The LOA remains subject to signing a final contract; Aker Solutions expects to book the order intake in the fourth quarter of 2026 if the contract is signed. Details are in the company’s award announcement.

PTSC M&C’s broader EPIC-1 package was awarded by QatarEnergy in September. PTSC M&C says the package covers engineering, procurement, fabrication, transport, installation, hook-up and commissioning for eight new structures weighing more than 100,000 tonnes in total, as well as brownfield modifications and tie-ins. The package is scheduled to run from the fourth quarter of 2026 through the end of 2031, according to PTSC M&C’s project announcement.

The Maydan Mahzam field lies about 100 kilometres northeast of Qatar’s coast and 28 kilometres southeast of Halul Island, in water depths of about 40 metres. Discovered in the 1960s and producing since 1965, the field is planned for redevelopment by operator QatarEnergy to upgrade facilities and extend its operational life. PTSC M&C says the program aims to sustain production at approximately 25,000 barrels per day.
