Hai Long offshore wind project has completed turbine installation, with all 73 units producing electricity. The 1,022 MW development in Taiwan is scheduled to enter full commercial operation in 2027.
Northland Power issued an installation and generation update on 15 October 2026. Final permits are expected during January–June 2027, while the company said construction spending remains consistent with its original estimates.
CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) handles the transport and installation scope for the turbines, foundations and offshore substations. Its jacket installation campaign ended in August 2025. Earlier work had put 219 pin piles in place, together with the foundations for two offshore substations.
The development uses Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD turbines in its three phases. Hai Long 2A accounts for 294 MW, Hai Long 2B for 224 MW and Hai Long 3 for 504 MW. Hai Long 2A reached completion and grid connection at the end of 2025. Installation of Hai Long 2B’s 16 turbines also finished in 2025, followed by the first turbine at Hai Long 3 in March 2026.
Situated in the Taiwan Strait, Hai Long lies roughly 45–70 kilometres from Changhua County’s coast. Mitsui & Co. owns 40%, Northland Power 30.6% and Gentari International Renewables 29.4%.
A 30-year power offtake agreement supports the development. Northland Power expects its electricity output to meet the needs of over one million households in Taiwan.
