UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a Hormuz tanker attack in which an unidentified projectile reportedly hit a vessel and started a fire. UKMTO relayed that the crew was safe, while the damage and possible environmental consequences remained unknown.

The agency issued Warning 147-26 on 1 October 2026 after receiving information from a third party. The notice recorded 17:50 UTC as the report time and stated that the tanker had been passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Neither the vessel’s name nor the party responsible was identified in the warning. With an investigation underway, UKMTO called for caution among ships navigating the area and asked them to report suspicious activity.

The incident follows earlier tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. UKMTO issued three other warnings on 30 September concerning reported projectile strikes on 29 September. Those notices covered separate incidents from the tanker fire described in Warning 147-26.
