The Boskalis Zeevonk cable contract covers the transport and offshore installation of approximately 149 km of 66 kV inter-array cables at the Zeevonk Offshore Wind Farm in the Dutch North Sea. Zeevonk, a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, awarded the work for the project’s first phase.
The cable system will link 69 wind turbines. The contract also includes cable testing and termination, installation of cable protection systems, offshore surveys, and seabed intervention work.
Boskalis plans to use its cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean to transport the cables from the manufacturing facility in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, to the offshore site and carry out the installation campaign. One of the company’s subsea rock installation vessels will undertake the seabed intervention activities.
Boskalis classified the award as a sizable contract, a designation covering values between EUR 50 million and EUR 150 million. The exact contract value was not disclosed.
Offshore installation is planned for 2029, following engineering work that is expected to begin shortly.
Located approximately 45 nautical miles northwest of IJmuiden, the Zeevonk project is planned in two phases of around 1 GW each. The completed development is expected to have a total installed capacity of approximately 2 GW, with commercial operations for phase 1 scheduled to begin in 2029.
