Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping (Group) Co., Ltd. plans to purchase three 62,000-tonne multipurpose heavy-lift vessels to carry oversized wind power, offshore engineering and nuclear power equipment.
The investment would mark the dry bulk operator’s entry into the heavy-lift market. The company intends to serve equipment shipments supporting high-end manufacturers’ overseas business, adding project cargo transport to its existing operations.
The proposed heavy-lift vessels are part of a six-ship investment programme, which also includes three 115,000-tonne LR2 tankers. Total investment in the vessel purchases is approximately RMB 2.5 billion, with construction expected to take two years.
Under a draft private placement prospectus released on 21 September 2026, the company plans to raise up to RMB 700 million. After issuance expenses, the proceeds would be used for vessel purchases and working capital, with planned allocations of RMB 680 million and RMB 20 million respectively. The vessel funding covers both the heavy-lift ships and the tankers.
The company currently operates 22 dry bulk carriers. It said the multipurpose vessels would add dedicated heavy-lift capacity, while the LR2 tankers would enable it to enter the oil transportation market.
The expansion would establish project cargo and liquid energy cargo operations alongside the company’s domestic and international dry bulk shipping business.
