deugro has commissioned a new port handling and storage setup in Antwerp, Belgium, for wind turbine generator (WTG) components, with the facility receiving its first rotor blade shipment from China.
The setup was commissioned in June 2026 for a global wind turbine manufacturer. It is designed to handle rotor blades, nacelles, tower sections and complex breakbulk cargo.
The first vessels were discharged in July 2026, followed by cargo handling and storage operations at the terminal.
The Antwerp facility is equipped with high-capacity cranes, specialist handling equipment and areas for storage and pre-assembly. It also provides access to road, rail and inland waterway networks for onward transport.
Located on the Rhine-Scheldt corridor, the facility allows oversized and heavy WTG components to be transported by inland barge as an alternative to road movements. It provides connections to project sites in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
Together with local partners, deugro provides vessel discharge and supervision, port agency coordination, terminal operations and heavy-lift cargo handling.
Storage services include inventory control, condition inspections, documentation, component planning and site surveys. The company also coordinates preparations for onward transport by road and inland waterway.
The Antwerp operation is the fourth dedicated WTG component facility established by deugro within a relatively short period. The company also operates setups in Lindø at the Port of Odense in Denmark and at Wilhelmshaven and Brake in Germany.
deugro said strategically located logistics hubs are becoming more important as turbine dimensions increase and project schedules become more demanding.
