Dajin Heavy Industry has started serial production of 63 transition pieces for the 976.5 MW Gennaker offshore wind farm following a first steel cutting ceremony at its Penglai manufacturing base on 30 July 2026.

The structures will be installed in Germany’s Baltic Sea as part of the project developed and owned by Skyborn Renewables.

Dajin Heavy Industry secured the exclusive supply contract in November 2025. The transition pieces are designed for 15.5 MW SG DD-236++ turbines and for water depths ranging from 13 m to 20 m.

The units will be fabricated from S355ML+Z35 offshore steel in accordance with EN 1090, DNV-OS-C401 and NORSOK M-101 standards.

Production at Penglai will use large-diameter plate rolling equipment, automated welding lines and horizontal assembly technology. Dajin Heavy Industry said all 63 units are scheduled for delivery to European ports by 2027.

The company’s scope also includes ocean transport using its own fleet, along with component commissioning and warehousing services at European terminals.

Lars, Project Director of Gennaker, said the selection of Dajin Heavy Industry as the exclusive transition piece supplier was based on its manufacturing capability, integrated logistics capability and consistent quality control. He also expressed confidence that deliveries would remain on schedule.

Dajin Heavy Industry said it would maintain its quality, safety and delivery requirements while supporting Germany’s renewable energy development and the EU’s carbon neutrality targets.
