WindSpider and Seaway7 have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a strategic collaboration aimed at developing innovative and competitive wind turbine generator (WTG) installation solutions for the offshore wind market. The MoU was announced on 9 June 2026.
The planned collaboration will combine WindSpider’s turbine integration and lifting technology with Seaway7’s installation assets and execution capabilities across floating and bottom-fixed offshore wind projects. The companies intend to assess next-generation installation solutions that can operate without water depth limitations.
Seaway7, part of the Subsea7 Group, delivers offshore wind projects globally and supports developers in renewable energy deployment. WindSpider develops lifting solutions for wind turbine installation, maintenance, major component replacement, and decommissioning, covering both offshore and onshore applications.
Kent Lynggaard Vinkel, CEO of WindSpider, said the company was excited to collaborate with one of the world’s leading marine operators and jointly explore new opportunities while contributing to the continued advancement of the offshore wind industry.
WindSpider’s self-erecting lifting solution uses the turbine tower as support. According to the company, the system eliminates relative motion between the crane and wind turbine, has no turbine weight or height restrictions, is compatible with floating vessels and barges, and offers operability at windy sites.
With an effective lifting capacity of more than 1,500 tonnes for its installation system, WindSpider says the technology addresses major wind industry challenges and is prepared for future wind turbine generations at substantially lower cost.
