Wison New Energies has begun hull assembly for the Sakarya Phase 3 floating production unit (FPU) at its Nantong yard in China, following a keel-laying ceremony on 25 October 2026.
The FPU is being built for Türkiye Petrolleri A.O. (TPAO) under an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract for the Sakarya gas development in the Black Sea.
Hull block assembly is now underway in the dry dock, following the start of steel cutting in February and subsequent topsides fabrication.
The ultra-deepwater FPU is designed to export 25 million standard cubic metres of natural gas per day. It will provide gas processing, compression and export functions at a water depth of approximately 2,150 metres, with a design service life of 30 years.
According to Wison’s project specifications, the double-hull unit will measure 282 metres in length and 54 metres in breadth.
Under the construction schedule announced in February 2026, hull float-out was planned for April 2027, with yard installation and commissioning scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. Wison New Energies did not provide a revised delivery schedule in its latest announcement.
The latest milestone follows the earlier start of topside module fabrication for the same project.
Once operational, the FPU will support natural gas production and supply from the Sakarya field, located approximately 170 kilometres off Türkiye’s Black Sea coast.
