Smulders HSM has been awarded a contract by ONE-Dyas to construct and integrate a new compression module for the N05-A offshore gas development in the Dutch North Sea.
The module will support continued natural gas production from the field. The contract follows Smulders HSM’s earlier delivery of the N05-A production platform, which entered operation in March 2025.
Smulders HSM and SPIE will carry out the work through a joint delivery team in cooperation with ONE-Dyas. The project scope covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation. Scaldis will undertake the offshore installation work.
The module will contain two separate compression trains, enabling the platform to operate at two pressure levels as conditions in the field change.
It will measure approximately 27.2 m by 15.0 m by 15.0 m and have an estimated dry weight of 875 t. Around 350 t of the total will consist of structural steel.
N05-A is the first offshore gas production platform in the North Sea to run its production systems solely with electricity generated by an offshore wind farm. The platform is connected to the nearby Riffgat offshore wind farm in Germany, reducing its operational emissions to near zero.
The new module will use the platform’s existing electrified infrastructure while maintaining gas production from the N05-A field.
Smulders HSM, a subsidiary of Eiffage Métal, provides engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning services for offshore projects. Its work includes offshore platforms, high-voltage substations, gas processing modules, carbon capture and storage infrastructure, green hydrogen platforms and steel jacket foundations.
