Sallaum Lines has expanded its Ocean Class fleet with the simultaneous delivery of MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator, two new Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) built for global RoRo operations.
The vessels were constructed by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) Co. Ltd. and are registered under the Cyprus flag. Their delivery marks the largest single-day milestone so far in the company’s Ocean Class Program, supporting its investment in modern tonnage, flexible cargo capability, and lower-emission operations.
Each vessel provides capacity for 7,400 CEU across 13 cargo decks. With maximum clearances of 5.4 m in vehicle height and 13.5 m in width, the ships can carry passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, high-clearance SUVs, rolling machinery, and oversized project cargo. LNG fuel storage has also been incorporated to Ocean Class standard, supporting extended operational range and improved environmental performance on long-haul voyages.
Powered by LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems, MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator include energy-efficient technologies that exceed current IMO regulatory requirements. The vessels are designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants while maintaining the fuel flexibility and reliability required for deep-sea shipping.
The dual delivery also reinforces the role of China in Sallaum Lines’ global network, both as a strategic export market and as a long-term shipbuilding partner. The company said demand for its services has often exceeded available capacity in recent years, affecting its ability to provide customers with the desired level of flexibility and consistency.
In 2026, Sallaum Lines supported Chinese exports with eight sailings from the Far East to Europe. Building on that activity, the company is planning to launch a dedicated China-Europe service in 2027. Chairman Sami Sallaum said the delivery reinforces confidence in the long-term potential of the trade corridor and the company’s commitment to investing in services and infrastructure for evolving global trade.
Together with MV Ocean Breeze, MV Ocean Explorer, and MV Ocean Legacy, the new vessels strengthen the Ocean Class fleet, a generation of eco-efficient PCTCs designed with optimized hull forms, advanced automation systems, and adaptable cargo configurations. MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator will enter commercial service immediately following delivery, supporting automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy equipment, and project cargo customers across key international RoRo routes.
