PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) has loaded out the completed offshore substation structures for the Fengmiao offshore wind project in Taiwan.
The delivered structures consist of a 3,400-tonne topside and an 8,000-tonne package covering the jacket and piles. PTSC M&C reported that the work remained on schedule and exceeded 2.5 million LTI-free man-hours.
Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C secured the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the project’s 500 MW offshore substation in 2023.
The project is owned and developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). It is situated around 36 km from Taichung City, off Taiwan’s west coast, and has been awarded 500 MW of grid capacity by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs. Commissioning is expected by 2027.
Fengmiao 1 will have a capacity of 495 MW. The wind farm will use 33 15 MW turbines supplied by Vestas, with each turbine installed on a three-legged jacket foundation. Its offshore substation will be supported by a four-legged jacket.
Earlier in the year, Century Wind Power completed the first turbine jacket foundations ahead of the planned installation campaign. Jan De Nul also completed the installation of two export cables for Fengmiao 1 in April.
