Aventa has completed the Irish Sea Contractors acquisition, adding nearshore cable work, marine construction and diving services to the French group’s offshore operations. The deal was announced on 13 October 2026.

Aventa plans to invest in its Irish business, broaden its services and add skilled jobs as activity develops. It also intends to establish a Dublin presence to serve customers and pursue new assignments.

Irish Sea Contractors (ISC) will retain its name and remain under Managing Director Áine Kinsella. Alongside that role, she will take charge of Aventa’s Operations business unit. Wexford will remain the centre for ISC’s marine delivery work.

According to the acquisition announcement, cable landfalls and installation near shore form part of the enlarged service range, which also covers construction and upkeep of ports and harbours. Commercial diving and underwater inspection, repair and maintenance are also included. AERSUB, the cable repair solution developed by ISC, becomes part of the group’s offering.

ISC’s project record spans both power and fibre-optic cables, with assignments in Ireland, the UK and continental Europe. The contractor handles landfalls, cable pull-ins and nearshore installation. Its experience also covers protective measures, cable burial and remedial activities. Aventa plans to build these services for both telecoms and power transmission customers.

The acquired teams will join an Operations business already handling offshore transport, installation and cable installation work. Aventa said it wants Operations to grow in parallel with its Engineering and Consulting businesses.

Aventa described closer coordination between design and field work as a goal of the combination. The company wants early planning to reflect seabed conditions, the limitations of vessels and the methods used for installation. It also aims to retain project knowledge during engineering, offshore execution and subsequent asset support.
