Petrobras has confirmed a gas discovery at the Sandia-1 exploration well in deep waters offshore Colombia.

Sandia-1 is located about 42 km from the Colombian coast in a water depth of 1,251 m. The well lies 18 km from the Sirius-1 discovery well and Sirius-2 appraisal well, and 9 km from the Copoazu-1 discovery well.

Drilling started on 12 June 2026 and reached its final depth on 29 July 2026. The intervals where gas was detected are being evaluated using well-log data and will undergo laboratory analysis.

Petrobras International Braspetro B.V. – Colombia Branch, or PIB-COL, operates the consortium with a 44.44% interest. Ecopetrol S.A. holds a 55.56% interest.

Petrobras said the discovery adds gas volumes identified in Colombia’s offshore area. The company’s activities there form part of its long-term exploration strategy and are being conducted through a partnership with Ecopetrol S.A.
