LS Marine Solution has begun construction of a cable-laying vessel with a 13,000 t cable-loading capacity at Tersan Shipyard in Türkiye.

A steel-cutting ceremony was held on 6 July 2026. Delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2028.

LS Marine Solution signed the shipbuilding contract with Tersan Shipyard in June 2025. The vessel represents an investment of approximately €221 million.

Designed by Salt Ship Design, the vessel will measure 148.4 m in length and 31 m in breadth. It will have a total displacement of 18,800 t.

The vessel will be capable of laying HVDC submarine cables and fiber-optic cables simultaneously. LS Marine Solution has described it as Asia’s largest cable-laying vessel by cable loading capacity and South Korea’s only specialized HVDC installation vessel.

Its capacity is intended to support long-distance cable installation in a single voyage, reducing cable jointing and transport time.

Kongsberg Maritime will supply an integrated technology package including K-Pos dynamic positioning systems, control and navigation systems, a battery-hybrid DC electrical system, main propulsion equipment and thruster units.

The new vessel will expand the cable installation fleet operated by LS Marine Solution alongside its existing cable-laying barge, GL2030.

The delivery schedule also corresponds with the planned start of commercial production in 2028 at LS GreenLink, the US submarine cable manufacturing subsidiary of LS Cable & System.
