Jumbo Maritime has successfully delivered a 685-tonne shiploader to the QatarEnergy sulphur terminal in Ras Laffan, marking the completion of major crane infrastructure for the site’s expansion.

The heavy lift vessel Fairpartner transported the equipment from Tianjin, China, following months of planning and coordination with partners DSV – Global Transport and Logistics and Bedeschi S.p.a. The operation was technically demanding due to the shiploader’s high center of gravity and narrow lifting points, requiring precise engineering.

Upon arrival in Qatar, the team conducted offloading under extreme heat conditions. To ensure safety, heat-stress management protocols were enforced, including shaded rest areas, hydration routines, and adjusted work cycles. As a result, the project was completed without incident.

This delivery is the second for the terminal: Jumbo Maritime previously transported a radial shiploader for the same project, and this year’s linear shiploader completes the upgrade. Both shipments are part of the North Field Expansion Project, which supports QatarEnergy’s role in meeting rising global energy demand.
