Equinor and Aker BP have discovered gas and condensate at the Linga prospect in the North Sea through exploration well 25/7-13, drilled by COSL’s COSLInnovator semi-submersible drilling rig.
The discovery is in production license 782 S, 16 km northwest of the Balder field and 205 km west of Stavanger. Equinor operates the license with a 60% interest, while Aker BP holds 40%.
The Norwegian Offshore Directorate said preliminary estimates place recoverable resources at between 0.1 million and 2.1 million standard cubic metres (Sm3) of oil equivalent.
Well 25/7-13 marks the third well in production license 782 S, which was awarded in 2015 under APA 2014.
The licensees are reviewing the results from well 25/7-13 and the other wells to determine whether further exploration opportunities remain within the license.
COSLInnovator is now moving to production license 50 HS in the northern North Sea. The rig will drill wildcat well 34/10-56 S, with Equinor serving as operator.
