Entr, the consultancy arm of Aker Solutions, has secured its first offshore wind contract in Canada, winning an assignment from Net Zero Atlantic to study transmission routing and technology options for future offshore wind development.
The contract forms part of the Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Readiness Program, or ACORP. Working with Canadian marine engineering and advisory company C-CORE, Entr will assess planning-level offshore transmission routing options and technology configurations.
The work is intended to support offshore wind development in Nova Scotia and help assess potential electricity export opportunities to other Canadian markets and the United States.
The study will be led from Aker Solutions’ St. John’s office in Canada, with support from teams in Oslo, Norway. Completion is expected in January 2027, with the findings planned for public release.
The assignment focuses on an early stage of offshore wind infrastructure development: identifying possible transmission routes and technology configurations before future generation projects are connected to the power system.
The work also follows broader transmission and grid-integration research being carried out by Net Zero Atlantic. Its Atlantic Canada Offshore Wind Grid Integration and Transmission Study has examined potential domestic and international markets for offshore wind and is progressing toward further work on offshore wind resources and grid integration.
According to Aker Solutions’ official announcement, the award marks Entr’s entry into the Canadian offshore wind market.
