ConocoPhillips and operator CNOOC have brought the Bohai Phase 5 development into full operation at the Penglai oil field offshore China.
The project expands the Penglai offshore complex with two new wellhead platforms, four platform expansions and 91 wells.
The partners have also completed installation of the Penglai Power from Shore electrical power platform. ConocoPhillips described the facility as part of China’s largest and highest-voltage offshore electrification project.
Equipped with a 220-kV power system, the platform will allow grid electricity to support offshore operations.
The Penglai oil field was discovered in 1999 and has developed into one of China’s largest offshore oil fields. The development now includes 19 offshore platforms, an FPSO vessel and more than 70 km of subsea pipelines.
