Cadeler has acquired Menck in a transaction based on an agreed enterprise valuation of EUR 501 million, expanding its capabilities in offshore wind foundation transportation and installation.
The transaction was signed and closed on 11 August 2026 after the required regulatory approvals had been obtained. Cadeler acquired Menck from UK-headquartered offshore energy services group Acteon.
Menck provides specialist equipment, technology and services for fixed-bottom offshore foundation installation. Its portfolio includes hydraulic impact hammers, along with capabilities in noise mitigation, drilling, grouting, and specialist lifting and handling equipment.
Cadeler intends to operate Menck as a standalone business. Menck will continue to serve customers across the offshore wind market, including other installation contractors, while retaining its existing market identity and customer relationships.
The acquisition combines Menck‘s foundation installation technology and engineering capabilities with Cadeler‘s heavy-lift offshore wind installation fleet. Menck has more than 150 years of engineering expertise, while its experience includes more than 50 million data points on driven piles.
The companies already work together on offshore wind projects. Menck is supplying the 4,400kJ impact hammer deployed by Cadeler on the Hornsea 3 offshore wind project.
Cadeler said the transaction is expected to give it more direct access to foundation installation capabilities, reduce reliance on subcontracted services and provide greater flexibility in project planning and execution. Menck will continue making its equipment and services available to customers across the wider offshore wind market.
Menck expects to introduce its next-generation Wind Hammer in early 2027. The equipment is designed for the installation of ultra-large foundations for offshore wind turbines.
Menck is headquartered in Kaltenkirchen, Germany, and also operates facilities in Hamburg, Singapore, Cornwall in the UK and Cork in Ireland.
The acquisition was financed through available liquidity and a EUR 380 million acquisition facility provided by DNB Bank ASA and Coöperatieve Rabobank U.A. Cadeler expects the facility to be refinanced with long-term financing and cash flow from operations.
