Boskalis has completed a heavy marine transport voyage from Bonny, Nigeria, to Bahía Blanca, Argentina, carrying three vessels aboard the semi-submersible heavy transport vessel White Marlin.
The cargo consisted of two tugs and Micoperi‘s pipe-laying vessel Seminole. All three vessels were loaded onto White Marlin in Bonny before the heavy transport vessel sailed from West Africa to South America.
Loading multiple floating cargoes required White Marlin to submerge its transport deck for the float-on operation. The two tugs and Seminole were positioned above the submerged deck before the heavy transport vessel was refloated.
During refloating, the cargoes had to remain in position until they settled onto the cribbing installed on the deck. White Marlin subsequently transported the three vessels across the Atlantic and delivered them to the port of Bahía Blanca.
White Marlin is part of Boskalis‘ semi-submersible heavy transport fleet. According to the company’s vessel specifications, it has an overall length of 216.7 m, a breadth of 63 m and deck space measuring 177.6 m by 63 m. The vessel has a deadweight of 72,146 tonnes.
Seminole, operated by Micoperi, is a self-propelled lifting and pipe-laying vessel. According to Micoperi‘s vessel information, Seminole was originally built in France in 1975 and underwent a rebuilding programme completed in 2011. The vessel has an overall length of 135.81 m and a breadth of 30.5 m.
The arrival at Bahía Blanca completed White Marlin‘s voyage from Nigeria with the three-vessel cargo.
