Boskalis is carrying out maintenance dredging on Germany’s Weser River using the trailing suction hopper dredger Medway.

The work is being performed on behalf of Boskalis Hirdes along the 90-km river. Medway is dredging sand and silt as part of operations carried out virtually year-round.

The maintenance dredging is intended to keep ports including Bremen and Bremerhaven accessible to large container ships.

Material removed from the river is transported and deposited at locations designated by the client.

The dredging work on the Weser is scheduled to continue for more than a year, with Medway remaining deployed on the river during the programme.
