Heerema Marine Contractors has been awarded a major contract by BP to decommission the Andrew platform in the UK North Sea, marking another significant step in the region’s offshore infrastructure removal program.

The scope of work covers the engineering, preparation, and removal (EPR) of both the topside and the jacket structure. This includes dismantling and transporting the flare, the Kinnoull module, and the four-legged steel jacket anchored with 12 skirt piles. The operation follows Heerema’s successful removal of BP’s Andrew Drilling Equipment Set (DES) in 2024, reinforcing the company’s track record in complex decommissioning campaigns.

The Andrew platform, located in Block 16/28 about 225 kilometers northeast of Aberdeen, was installed in 116 meters of water and comprises production, drilling, and accommodation facilities. Its decommissioning will be conducted using Heerema’s heavy-lift fleet and engineering expertise, with a strong emphasis on safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
