DEME’s trailing suction hopper dredger Brabo has been deployed to Indonesia for the second phase of capital dredging at the Port of Patimban, one of the country’s most ambitious port development projects.

During this phase, Brabo is tasked with deepening a 3 km stretch of the access channel to -14 metres below the lowest tide level, representing a dredged volume of 5.5 million m³. The work builds on the successful completion of the inner basin deepening carried out in 2024.

The dredging activities are being conducted in cooperation with the Penta Ocean–Toyo Rinkai–PP–Wika–Jakon consortium, underscoring the international collaboration driving Indonesia’s port expansion.

Located 145 km east of Jakarta, Patimban is envisioned as one of Indonesia’s largest container gateways, with a planned capacity of 7.5 million TEUs. Once completed, the expanded access channel will support safe navigation for larger vessels, strengthening the port’s role as a logistics hub for regional and international trade.
