Skarv Shipping Solutions has officially launched its first newbuild vessel, PEAK SKARV 1, at Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Weihai, China. The launch marks a significant milestone for the company’s expanding fleet program.

Scheduled for delivery in early January 2026, the vessel is designed to support more sustainable cargo operations, boasting substantially lower CO₂ emissions compared to comparable ships currently in service.

Activity remains intense for the Skarv newbuilding team both in Norway and at the Weihai shipyard, as the next two vessels in the same series are set to be launched within the next 45 days. In total, four vessels of this class will be delivered for commercial operations by Peak CSL Group AS, with ship management provided by Grieg Star on behalf of Skarv Shipping.

Additionally, a fifth vessel is on order—a dual-fuel ammonia-powered ship—slated for commercial operations under Arriva Shipping, with delivery targeted for 2027.

Key specifications of PEAK SKARV 1:

  • Length overall: 108.2 m
  • Beam: 18.1 m (extreme 19.6 m)
  • Summer draught: 7.0 m
  • Deadweight: 7,800 t
  • Cargo capacity: 6,650 t
  • Cargo deck area: 1,600 m²

The series represents Skarv Shipping’s commitment to greener logistics solutions and reflects the broader industry trend toward decarbonization in short-sea and project cargo shipping.
