TotalEnergies has signed agreements to acquire a 30% operating interest in the Lang Lebah and B14 gas fields offshore Sarawak, Malaysia, with both fields planned for an integrated development supplying the country’s existing LNG infrastructure.
The farm-out agreements, signed with PETRONAS Carigali, PTTEP and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), will give TotalEnergies operatorship of both fields upon completion, subject to regulatory approval.
Under the proposed ownership structure, TotalEnergies will hold 30% in each field, while PTTEP and KUFPEC will each hold 25% and PETRONAS Carigali the remaining 20%.
The two fields contain combined estimated gas resources exceeding 6.5 trillion cubic feet, equivalent to more than 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent. The development is expected to supply the existing Malaysia LNG liquefaction plant at a planned production plateau of approximately 10 billion cubic metres annually, according to TotalEnergies’ official announcement.
Lang Lebah, part of the SK410B project, lies approximately 14 kilometres from B14. Both fields remain in the pre-development phase, according to PTTEP.
The proposed development will bring together planning for the two fields, currently governed by separate production sharing contracts, with shared infrastructure and coordinated facilities development.
The agreements were marked by a signing ceremony in Abu Dhabi on 1 November 2026, during ADIPEC 2026. Completion remains subject to approval from Malaysia Petroleum Management.
The transaction follows TotalEnergies’ acquisition of SapuraOMV Upstream in 2024 and an expansion of its partnership with PETRONAS in 2025.
