Equinor has secured a North Sea drilling permit covering wellbore 33/9-F-4 DH, which COSL Promoter will drill. The Norwegian Offshore Directorate announced the drilling approval on 27 October 2026.

The drilling target is in production licence 1214, whereas the wellhead is in licence 037. Drilling Contractor reported a water depth of 285 metres at the location.

Equinor operates licence 1214 with a 17% interest. Its partners are Petoro with 30%, OKEA with 28% and Vår Energi with 25%. The licence took effect on 15 March 2024 and runs until 15 March 2030.

Built in 2012, COSL Promoter is a semi-submersible owned by COSL Drilling Europe, with a maximum operating water depth of 750 metres.

The rig was also named in an earlier consent from the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority, Havtil, covering permanent plugging and abandonment at Tordis for Equinor.
