BigLift Shipping’s heavy transport vessel CY Frontier has discharged two offshore steel grillages weighing a combined 900 tonnes in Cádiz, Spain, following their shipment from Mokpo, South Korea.
RensenDriessen reported the completion of the discharge operation in an update published on 9 October 2026. The two structures were unloaded on 8 October using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs).
The grillages, each weighing 450 tonnes according to an earlier announcement by BigLift Shipping, were transported as part of the vessel’s maiden voyage from Asia to Europe. Following the operation in Cádiz, CY Frontier is continuing towards Rotterdam with newly built inland vessel hulls on board.
Earlier voyage information released by BigLift Shipping identified 12 inland vessel hulls for RensenDriessen, with individual weights ranging from 455 to 1,750 tonnes. The latest update did not specify the number of hulls remaining on board after the Cádiz port call.
CY Frontier is the first of four BC-Class heavy transport vessels developed for the joint fleet of CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping. The vessel measures 180 m in length and 43 m in beam, with an unobstructed cargo deck of 6,020 m² and a deadweight capacity of 25,000 tonnes.
According to BigLift Shipping’s official vessel announcement, the BC-Class design supports roll-on/roll-off and skidding operations over the stern and side of the vessel.
The vessel’s introduction was previously covered by HMT News in its report on the christening of CY Frontier.
MCSI Rotterdam has also been involved in arranging the transportation, providing brokerage, commercial negotiations and operational support for the voyage.
With the offshore grillages discharged in Spain, CY Frontier is continuing its maiden commercial voyage to Rotterdam, combining the delivery of offshore project cargo with the transportation of newly built inland vessel hulls from Asia to Europe.
