Boskalis heavy transport vessel BOKA Vanguard is transporting the VALARIS 106 jackup rig from Singapore to Kokas, Indonesia, ahead of the rig’s next contract with BP.

BOKA Vanguard departed the Singapore anchorage and is expected to arrive at Kokas around 15–16 September 2026. AIS data reported on 10 September showed BOKA Vanguard underway toward Kokas at 8.4 knots, with IDKOK listed as its destination and an estimated arrival on 15 September.

VALARIS 106 is due to begin a contract with BP in Indonesia in October 2026. Valaris’ Fleet Status Report dated 5 August 2026 lists the contract through September 2028, with an estimated duration of two years and a total contract value of approximately $74 million. The agreement also includes four one-well options.

The same Valaris report identifies VALARIS 106 as a KFELS MOD V-B jackup delivered in 2005. It also states that the rig is expected to spend approximately 90 days out of service for leg repairs during the third quarter of 2026. Valaris did not state in the report that those repairs had been completed.

Valaris also reported that a previously announced one-well contract for VALARIS 106 with Medco Energi offshore Indonesia had been terminated by mutual agreement.

For the current mobilisation, VALARIS 106 is being carried aboard the semi-submersible BOKA Vanguard to Indonesia. Boskalis lists the vessel as a 117,000-ton heavy transport vessel and says its bowless configuration allows cargo to extend beyond both the bow and stern. The vessel is used for transporting offshore drilling rigs and other large offshore structures.

The voyage to Kokas precedes the scheduled October 2026 start of VALARIS 106’s approximately two-year contract with BP in Indonesia.
