TotalEnergies has completed its transaction with Galp, taking a 40% operated interest in Namibia’s PEL83 licence, which contains the Mopane discovery.
The transaction was agreed in December 2025. As part of the arrangement, Galp has also acquired interests in two Namibia licences operated by TotalEnergies.
Galp now holds a 10% participating interest in PEL56, which contains the Venus discovery, and a 9.39% participating interest in PEL91.
Following completion of the transaction, TotalEnergies holds a 40% operated interest in PEL83. Galp retains 40%, while Namcor and Custos each hold 10%.
In PEL56, TotalEnergies holds a 35.25% operated interest. QatarEnergy also holds 35.25%, while Galp and Namcor each hold 10% and Impact holds 9.5%.
TotalEnergies operates PEL91 with a 33.09% interest. QatarEnergy holds 33.03%, Namcor 15%, Impact 9.5% and Galp 9.39%.
TotalEnergies plans to begin appraisal work on the Mopane discovery in the second half of 2026. The company plans a three-well appraisal campaign and is targeting a final investment decision for the project in 2028.
TotalEnergies now operates PEL56, PEL83 and PEL91 in Namibia. The company is also progressing the completion of its entry as operator of PEL104.
