Royal Wagenborg has selected De Boer Marine for a multiyear programme covering connectivity, onboard IT and cybersecurity across around 160 owned and managed general cargo vessels.

The phased rollout will include ship-to-shore connectivity, onboard network infrastructure, navigation and communication equipment, system upgrades, installations and remote support.

Connectivity across the fleet will combine Starlink, OneWeb, Ku-band VSAT, Iridium Certus and 5G for vessels operating worldwide. The programme also includes upgrades to onboard network hardware.

Cybersecurity measures will cover firewalling, intrusion prevention, web filtering, endpoint management and secure remote access. De Boer Marine is ISO 27001-certified, supporting the information security requirements of the programme.

The scope also includes LinQontrol, which will be used to monitor and visualise onboard communication data.

Theo Klimp, Fleet Director at Royal Wagenborg Shipping, said digitalisation supports the company’s maritime operations and that the agreement brings connectivity, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity and user support into an integrated approach.

Meindert-Jan de Boer, CEO of De Boer Marine, said the programme combines connectivity, IT and cybersecurity across Royal Wagenborg Shipping’s global fleet and will be implemented in cooperation with the Wagenborg team.

The programme is intended to provide a more integrated and scalable digital foundation across the Wagenborg fleet while supporting secure ship-to-shore communications and reliable internet access for crews.
