Dutch engineering company Tillen has developed two lifting systems for offshore wind installation activities, with a Container Based Crane prepared for Van Oord and a Transition Piece Lifting Tool developed for SAL.
The Container Based Crane was designed for work in locations where local infrastructure or vessel support may not be available. Its crane system, tooling and power supply are integrated into a single container-based set-up, allowing the unit to operate without external power or additional ground support.
A single lifting operation can place the crane on a monopile or comparable offshore structure. Once positioned, the system provides controlled movement along the X, Y and Z axes for lifting work.
The unit for Van Oord was assembled and tested at Tillen’s facility before being sent to the site for offshore wind installation activities.
For SAL, Tillen developed a separate Transition Piece Lifting Tool. The equipment was intended to support accurate placement of transition pieces during offshore wind installation and was used on a SAL vessel.
Both systems underwent verification before delivery for their intended offshore applications.
