HD Korea Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) has stopped reviewing a proposed joint venture with Cochin Shipyard for a new block fabrication plant in India, while technical cooperation between the two companies will continue.
The proposed venture was among the areas considered following a comprehensive memorandum of understanding signed by HD KSOE and Cochin Shipyard in July 2025. The agreement established a framework to examine potential cooperation in shipbuilding, design and procurement.
After discussions under the agreement, the companies decided not to proceed with further consideration of the joint venture for the block fabrication facility, HD KSOE said in a stock exchange disclosure.
Technical cooperation will remain in place. This includes design and procurement support as well as the supply of core equipment, including engines, for feeder containerships contracted between Cochin Shipyard and French shipping company CMA CGM.
