Bilfinger has been selected by Ocean Winds to provide technical advisory services during the execution phase of the 390 MW BC-Wind offshore wind project in the Polish Baltic Sea.
The scope covers supervision of key offshore construction activities, including turbine installation, offshore structures and export cable installation. Bilfinger will also support compliance with technical requirements, permits and applicable regulations, as well as quality, safety and operational requirements.
The contract follows Bilfinger‘s involvement in the onshore portion of the project in recent months. The company will now extend its support to offshore execution.
BC-Wind is located approximately 23 km from the Polish coastline, north of the municipalities of Krokowa and Choczewo in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The project will comprise 26 wind turbines and have a planned capacity of up to 390 MW.
Ocean Winds reached a final investment decision for BC-Wind and finalized financing for the project in December 2025. The project is now in the construction phase. Around €2 billion in financing was secured from 15 lenders, including €600 million from the European Investment Bank.
The wind farm will use 26 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 turbines, each rated at 14 MW with Power Boost functionality of up to 15 MW. Cadeler has been contracted by Ocean Winds to transport and install the turbines. Offshore turbine installation is scheduled to begin in 2028 and continue for approximately four months, using an O-class wind turbine installation vessel operating from the Port of Gdańsk.
Other offshore construction work is also progressing. Steel cutting for the BC-Wind offshore substation began at the CRIST Offshore yard in Gdynia on 23 March 2026. The substation is being developed under a contract involving PGE Baltica and CRIST Offshore.
For the inter-array cable system, Hellenic Cables has a contract from DEME covering approximately 70 km of 66 kV submarine cables, including spares. Cable production is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
BC-Wind is expected to deliver first electricity in 2028. According to Ocean Winds, the project is expected to generate enough electricity to supply approximately 488,000 Polish households annually.
