CNOOC has started supplying electricity from the 16 MW Haiyou Anlan floating wind platform to the Lufeng oilfield grid off China.
The tension-leg floating wind platform is connected to the offshore oilfield through a subsea cable. Chinese media reports based on the project announcement said the unit is designed to generate about 54 million kWh of electricity annually.
The project is expected to save approximately 15,000 cubic metres of fuel oil and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 35,000 t per year.
Haiyou Anlan has an overall height of more than 307 m and weighs nearly 8,000 t. The platform departed Gaolan Port in Zhuhai on 27 June 2026 after integration work was completed and was subsequently transported to the Lufeng oilfield area.
Power generated by the platform is supplied directly to the Lufeng oilfield grid through a subsea cable.
The project follows CNOOC’s earlier deployment of the Haiyou Guanlan floating wind platform. In its 2024 Annual Results, CNOOC reported that Haiyou Guanlan generated 26 million kWh of electricity during 2024.
The same annual results also stated that construction of a 16 MW tension-leg floating wind project had started as part of CNOOC’s work to integrate offshore oil and gas production with renewable energy.
