Boskalis has officially christened the Windpiper after a year and a half of conversion work to turn the vessel into a subsea rock installation vessel.

The ceremony took place last Friday and was performed by Ms. Jones-Bos, a member of the Boskalis Supervisory Board. The company also welcomed more than 3,000 employees and family members on board the following day.

The Windpiper measures 227 m by 40 m. Boskalis said the commissioning of the vessel will double its rock installation capacity.

The vessel has a cargo capacity of 45,500 tonnes across two holds. According to Boskalis, the capacity is intended for projects involving long transit distances between rock loading facilities and project sites.
