BW Group and BW Offshore have appointed Matthew White as Chief Executive Officer of BW Elara, a joint venture focused on floating desalination solutions for regions facing water scarcity.

Announced on 1 July 2026, BW Elara is owned equally by BW Group and BW Offshore. The company combines maritime and offshore expertise with water engineering capabilities to provide clean water through floating desalination units (FDUs).

White joins BW Elara after serving for the past six years as CEO and Executive Chairman of BW Water. During that period, he led the company’s development from a start-up into a global provider of water, wastewater and desalination solutions.

According to BW Group, White will lead BW Elara as it works on floating desalination solutions aimed at improving water security for countries and industries.

The appointment follows the completion of BW Renewables‘ sale of BW Water Pte. Ltd. to Industrie De Nora S.p.A. The transaction was announced on 26 May 2026 and completed on 1 July 2026. After the sale, BW Water became part of De Nora’s global water business, while BW Group continues its water sector activities through BW Elara.
