India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has completed 44 jack-up rig relocations ahead of the monsoon season, supported by energy and marine consultancy ABL.
The pre-monsoon campaign ran from 15 March to 31 May 2026. The rig moves covered more than 5,500 nautical miles, with all units transferred to their assigned locations before seasonal adverse weather conditions began.
In addition to the 44 pre-monsoon moves, ABL supported 75 further rig moves in ONGC fields off India’s west coast between September 2025 and May 2026. During the campaign, ABL acted as tow master and marine warranty surveyor.
ABL was appointed by ONGC’s underwriters and their consultants to provide marine warranty services for jack-ups and mobile offshore production units operating in Indian waters.
Alongside the India program, ABL’s Middle East operations supported more than 750 rig moves across Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt over the past 12 months.
Captain Stephen Craig, ABL’s group director for rig operations, said the campaign involved high rig move volumes, long-distance operations and coordinated delivery across India and the Middle East.
