Seaway7‘s semi-submersible heavy lift vessel Seaway Albatross has completed its final call at Cherbourg after finishing the jacket transport campaign for the Dieppe Le Tréport offshore wind farm.

The semi-submersible heavy transport vessel carried 62 steel jackets from Fene, Spain, to Cherbourg across 13 port calls. The vessel had been deployed on the project since May 2025, completing the transport work over nearly one year.

Each call required access ramps to support RoRo operations using SPMTs. The modular transporters moved the jackets directly from the vessel and placed them on the quay without crane lifting.

The 62 jackets will serve as offshore wind turbine foundations. Each steel structure is designed to anchor one turbine at sea.

Seaway Albatross is built for offshore and onshore heavy transport using float on/off, skid on/off, roll on/off and lift on/off operations. The vessel has a free deck length of 129.5 m, a free deck area of 5,400 m², accommodation for 39 people and IMO number 9032496.

The vessel is also designed for efficient sailing and low fuel consumption. Its advanced ballast system supports RoRo work in areas with major tidal variation.

Across the 13 calls, PORT DE CHERBOURG supported a large-scale marine logistics operation linked to France’s offshore wind supply chain.
