A fire broke out aboard a dry cargo vessel undergoing maintenance at a privately owned shipyard in Istanbul Province, Türkiye.
The incident occurred at approximately 15:00 local time in Tuzla on the Marmara Sea coast. Initial reports indicated that the fire started in the vessel’s engine room while maintenance work was being carried out.
Shipyard workers immediately notified the authorities, and fire and rescue teams were dispatched to the facility within minutes.
Firefighting operations continued for about one hour before the blaze was brought under control and fully extinguished.
No injuries were reported among shipyard personnel, vessel crews or emergency responders.
Following the incident, police implemented security measures around the site and temporarily closed a nearby road to vehicle traffic as a precaution.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
