Norway’s Electromagnetic Geoservices is preparing Atlantic for a controlled-source electromagnetic campaign in Norwegian waters after securing contracts with a combined value of about $6 million.

EMGS said on 16 June that Atlantic, a former seismic vessel previously named Sanco Atlantic, is being fitted out for the planned campaign. The work is being carried out with the vessel owner Sea Shipping.

Rigging and mobilization are taking place at Green Yard. Sea Shipping will assist EMGS with vessel capability and marine operations.

EMGS CEO Bjørn Petter Lindhom said the company is moving into a new stage with a fresh vessel arrangement, new ownership, and renewed activity offshore Norway. He described the Norway campaign as the first step, while noting that the wider market opportunity extends beyond Norway.

He added that CSEM remains the company’s main focus. At the same time, the market is looking for more effective ways to combine marine geophysical acquisition methods and develop survey models that provide greater value from each mobilization. Atlantic will support that approach.
