Global Wind Service (GWS) has completed the pre-assembly phase for all 66 wind turbines designated for the Greater Changhua 2b & 4 offshore wind project, which Ørsted is constructing in Taiwan. The company stated that the work was delivered in line with both the original timeline and the revised schedule, supported by coordinated efforts with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), Ørsted, and crane supplier BMS.
More than 140 GWS technicians contributed to the operation, which covered the Siemens Gamesa 14-236 14 MW turbine platform. According to Rasmus Ravn, COO at Global Wind Service, completing the activity on schedule on a new turbine platform reflects the professionalism and commitment of those involved.
Situated 35–60 km off Changhua County, the 924 MW Greater Changhua 2b & 4 development spans two offshore sites that will host 66 SGRE turbines installed on suction bucket jacket (SBJ) foundations. The first turbine was erected in April, following the installation of the initial foundation, and the project began feeding power into the grid in July.
