TEPCO Renewable Power has started the environmental impact assessment process for a new fixed-bottom offshore wind project of up to 420 MW off Choshi in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
The company has published a Planning-Stage Environmental Consideration Document for the tentative Choshi City Offshore Wind Power Project. The proposed development area covers approximately 4,000 hectares offshore Choshi.
The wind farm is planned with a maximum generating capacity of 420 MW. Turbines in the 15–20 MW range are under consideration, with up to 27 units planned for the project.
The development is planned as a fixed-bottom offshore wind farm, with TEPCO Renewable Power identified as the project developer in the environmental assessment documentation.
According to Chiba Prefecture, the Planning-Stage Environmental Consideration Document was submitted on 20 August 2026. The prefecture announced the document on 21 August.
The documentation is available for public review from 21 August to 25 September 2026. It can also be inspected at designated government offices in Chiba Prefecture, Choshi and Asahi.
Comments concerning environmental protection can be submitted during the review period, with 25 September 2026 set as the deadline.
