Sarens has completed the weighing and load-out of eight modules for FPSO P-82 at Seatrium’s Aracruz shipyard in Brazil, using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) and load cells for modules weighing up to 3,000 t.

The scope covered six major modules and two smaller units. FPSO P-82 has a production capacity of 225,000 barrels per day.

Preparations followed more than a year of technical and commercial discussions between Sarens and Seatrium, including meetings in Singapore and Brazil. Engineering work focused on shipyard constraints, ground-bearing pressures, support positions, weighing points and load-out procedures.

The first load-outs took place in September 2025, when Sarens moved modules weighing 2,600 t and 2,300 t. The operation used 112 axle lines of SPMTs and 16 load cells with capacities ranging from 200 t to 750 t.

One month later, the team weighed and loaded out two additional major modules weighing 3,000 t and 2,700 t, together with two smaller modules weighing 400 t and 200 t. In mid-November, two further modules weighing 2,700 t and 2,000 t were weighed and loaded out.

Before operations began, Sarens completed the required technical and administrative documentation, with the equipment ready for transport 24 hours ahead of schedule.

Personnel from Brazil, Belgium, Spain, Kazakhstan and Thailand took part in the project.

Sarens has also handled other FPSO module movements at Brazilian shipyards, including sites in Sao Jose do Norte and Aracruz, with modules weighing between 2,500 t and 4,000 t.

According to Sarens, Brazil’s local content requirement has led to several topside processing modules being built at Brazilian shipyards in recent years before being transported to Asia for integration with FPSO hulls. Sarens’ work has included weighing and loading these modules for transport.
