Ørsted has appointed Peter Hepburn as head of generation UK, effective from 1 October 2026.
Hepburn will join Ørsted from Spirit Energy, where he most recently served as operations director. He has more than 30 years of experience in offshore operations, asset-intensive businesses and organisational transformation.
In the new role, Hepburn will be responsible for the safe, reliable and commercially effective operation of Ørsted’s UK offshore wind fleet. The portfolio consists of 12 operational wind farms, almost 1,000 turbines and about 5.7GW of installed capacity.
He will also support the commissioning of Hornsea 3 and oversee around 650 employees and more than 500 contractors. His responsibilities will include joint venture and regulatory relationships.
Godson Njoku, chief generation officer at Ørsted, said Hepburn’s operational experience, leadership background and knowledge of safety-critical offshore industries made him well placed for the position.
Hepburn said he was pleased to join Ørsted and take responsibility for an important part of the company’s global business.
