The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator has released the list of companies that consented to make public their prequalification status for Nova Scotia’s first offshore wind call for bids.
Offshore Wind Prequalification NS25-1R was open for 90 days, from 16 October 2025 to 13 January 2026. The regulator has completed its review of the applications received and notified all applicants of the results.
Only companies prequalified by the regulator will be eligible to bid on parcels in the next offshore wind call for bids. The regulator said it is preparing an offshore renewable energy recommendation for the call, which remains subject to federal and provincial ministerial review and approval. It said it cannot provide further details at this time on when the call for bids is expected to be held.
The publicly disclosed prequalified companies are DEME Concessions Wind N.V, a group comprising DP Energy Canada Limited, Enterprize Energy Atlantic Pte. Ltd., Nova East Wind Inc. and SBM Renewables Holding SA, a group comprising Hanwha Ocean Co, Ltd. and Q ENERGY France SAS, Jan De Nul nv, Ming Yang Smart Energy Group Limited, Northland Power Inc., and Simply Blue Energy (OSW) Ltd.
The regulator said the list excludes companies that did not consent to publication of their status. It also said it will not disclose the total number of prequalified companies or the names or number of companies that did not prequalify.
The prequalification process assessed applicants against financial, technical, legal and social criteria. The review was carried out by a committee of regulator staff, supported by external consultants including a fairness advisor, and approved by the Members of the Regulator.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said on 26 June 2026 that the prequalified companies can now work on proposals for the province’s first offshore wind call for bids, which the Province says will open later this year.
