Fujian Shipping Group has ordered four 62,000 dwt multipurpose heavylift vessels at Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, adding project cargo-capable ships to its fleet renewal program.

The newbuildings are designed for both bulk and breakbulk trades. They combine supramax bulker cargo capacity with heavylift features aimed at the project cargo market.

Each vessel will be fitted with four deck cranes, giving a combined lifting capacity of up to 300 tonnes. The ships will be able to handle oversized cargoes including wind turbine components, industrial modules and heavy machinery.

The vessels will measure close to 200 m in length and will have more than 75,000 cu m of cargo hold capacity.

The order follows other newbuilding activity by Fujian Shipping Group. In September 2024, the company signed for up to four 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulk carriers at Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering, with deliveries scheduled between late 2026 and early 2027.

In November 2023, Fujian Shipping Group also booked two 63,500 dwt ultramax vessels at Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

The latest order adds to Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s activity in the multipurpose and bulk carrier sectors. The yard has attracted a growing list of domestic and international owners in recent years.

Financial terms and delivery timelines for the four 62,000 dwt vessels have not been disclosed.
