COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers has taken delivery of Kang Qian Kou, the final vessel in a series of nine 7,500 CEU LNG dual-fuel Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) constructed by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry.

The vessel was officially delivered on 17 June and will be operated by Guangzhou Yuanhai Automobile Shipping, a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers.

As the last ship in the nine-vessel program, Kang Qian Kou represents the completion of a major PCTC construction series undertaken by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry for the Chinese carrier.

The vessel has an overall length of 199.9 m, a beam of 38 m, and a design draft of 8.7 m. Designed for long-distance vehicle transportation, it has a range of 25,000 nautical miles.

Its propulsion arrangement consists of a single-engine, single-propeller configuration powered by an LNG dual-fuel main engine. The vessel is also equipped with a bow thruster and an electric RORO system.

Kang Qian Kou features 13 vehicle decks with capacity for 7,500 standard vehicles. Four of the decks are liftable, enabling the transport of a wide range of cargo types, including passenger cars, trucks, buses, construction machinery, and MAFI cargo.

Following delivery, the vessel will commence its maiden voyage on the Australia service. More than 4,800 vehicles are scheduled to be loaded at Chinese ports for shipment to major destinations along Australia’s eastern coast. The cargo includes vehicles manufactured by BYD, Great Wall, Chery, Geely, Sinotruk, and LiuGong.

COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers continues to expand its automotive logistics business while developing a green and efficient PCTC fleet. During the past two years, the company has added more than 20 LNG dual-fuel PCTCs, increasing its operational fleet to 33 vessels.

The company’s PCTC services connect key automotive export markets across the Persian Gulf, Europe, Southeast Africa, western South America, the Mediterranean, Australia, and New Zealand.
