Cochin Shipyard Limited has moved ahead with its planned investment in Dutch ship designer Conoship International Holding B.V., signing agreements on 24 September 2026 to acquire a 23% stake for €2.3 million in cash.
According to Cochin Shipyard’s regulatory filing, the transaction has received clearance from India’s Department of Investment and Public Asset Management and is expected to be completed within two months.
The company said the investment is intended to provide access to European ship design capabilities and support its entry into the European coastal and short-sea shipping market. The two companies also plan to explore alternative-fuel vessel technologies and opportunities in coastal shipping, inland waterways and related marine services.
Conoship provides design and engineering services for vessel types including general cargo ships, tankers, dredgers, ferries and offshore vessels.
The companies already work together through Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited. According to Conoship, the yard built six CIP3800 general cargo vessels based on its design for Wilson ASA, with delivery of Wilson ECO VI in July 2026 completing the series.
