CNOOC Engineering completed the Huizhou 25-4 module lift on 10 October 2026, installing a 1,244-tonne accommodation unit at the Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment Manufacturing Base. A 3,600-tonne crawler crane placed the fully assembled module into position at the base’s No. 1 slipway.
The living quarters were built and their systems integrated on land before installation. This replaced a construction sequence involving three separate lifts and the joining of sections at height. The completed module was installed as one piece using a single crane.
Designed around human factors requirements, the module combines living accommodation with supporting facilities. Its size and complex systems required careful control of its orientation during lifting, together with safety and quality management throughout the operation.
Before lifting began, the team revised its installation procedures, verified the loads and simulated the complete lifting sequence. Preparations also covered detailed work instructions, safety provisions and emergency arrangements. The crew then raised the module, adjusted its orientation and aligned it before lowering it into its final position.
The unit forms part of the Huizhou 25-4 oilfield comprehensive adjustment and Huizhou 19-6 oilfield 5D well area development project. The new crude oil processing platform has three levels and eight legs. Its topsides reach around 85 metres in height and occupy a footprint comparable to nearly 13 standard basketball courts. The design float-over weight is approximately 29,000 tonnes.
CNOOC Engineering describes the structure as Asia’s largest offshore crude oil processing platform. The completed project will serve the Huizhou 19-6 oilfield.
Equipment installation and integrated system commissioning are the next stages of work.
